District Recognition Banquet
February 7, 1985

During the Scenic District's annual banquet two leaders from Melrose were honored. Joe Timmins, cubmaster of Pack 68, and Steve Borgerding, scoutmaster of Troop 68, were each presented with the district's Scouter of the Year Award. Each leader was there to support the other as he received his award. Neither of them knew that he himself would be receiving it.

Greenwald Outing
Date

Troop 68 headed south of Melrose and south of Greenwald to spend a weekend on some private land along the Sauk River. The Scouts had a great time, but I think there may have been a couple mothers unhappy with the dirty clothes when the boys arrived home.

Each year the Melrose police, fire, and ambulance departments are tested for their skills and readiness when a mock disaster drill is held. This year the drill was held near the fertilizer plant in Melrose. There has been an explosion and a chemical leak! And unfortunately, a group of Boy Scouts happen to be hiking near the plant!  Oh no!!!!
