The Ripley Rendezvous

March 30 - April 1, 1984

Boy Scout Troops from all over the Central Minnesota Council gathered at Camp Ripley in Minnesota for this annual event. Several hundred Boy Scouts participated in the various stations during the Saturday morning and afternoon sessions. Meals were eaten in the dining halls of the barracks that the troops sleep in overnight. A grand show kept everyone entertained Saturday evening.

We has quite a crew attend the Ripley Rendezvous this year.

Taylor Falls Outing

April 26-28, 1984

The troop traveled over two hours to once again spend a weekend at Tayloy Falls in western Minnesota. The weekend was too cold to go rock climbing so we took the time to hike some of the trails in the area and enjoy being along the Crow Wing River.

It was a little cool that weekend, but we did not let us stop having fun.

I think they are excited to be at Taylor Falls State Park Campground.

We even had a little time to take in some of the sites near the campground.

Curtain Falls was a popular stop along the hiking trail.

Summer Camp

July 1984

The Boy Scouts of Melrose Troop 68 attended a week-long outing at Crow Wing Scout Camp. The Scouts had a blast and started becoming know at the camp for their campfire performances, in addition to being a great troop. This was our fourth year attending Crow Wing.

Doesn't the group look sharp in their Boy Scout uniform shirts?	The scoutmaster tries a taco make by one of the patrols.	The shooting ranges were a popular place for Boy Scouts and adults.	Oh yeah, we had to eat what we prepared. As you can see, the meal was very tasty.
In addition to all the fun at camp, there were a few chores in the campsite.	Here is a picture of just one of the three campsites in our camp.	We are going to a campwide activity.	The obstacle course at Crow Wing was a popular place for our troop.
The waterfront area was a great place to spend a warm afternoon.	Someone told us that if you put a fern on your head it would keep away the horse flies.	"I wish I was a Boy Scout" was the song sung by our Scouts at the Wednesday campfire.	Pat had a birthday while at camp, so we had to have a little celebration.
Meanwhile, back in the campsite...	...it is lunch time. We are hungry...	...so it is time to prepare the meal.	The camp staff perform during the closing campfire program Friday night.

SCAMHAF Camporee

October 19-21, 1984

The fall of 1984 once again saw the troops of western Stearn County meet at the Birch Lake State Forest campground for a SCAMHAF camporee. Troops from Sauk Centre, Melrose, Albany, Holdingford, and Avon attended the event.

Hmmm. How is the Scamhaf Birch Lake Garbage Can Stew?	Mealtime in the campsite.	The Boy Scouts from Freeport enjoy their meal.	What is for supper guys?
