Court of Honor
February 16, 1981

The troop held a winter court of honor in the old firehall early on February 16. Several of the Scouts received awards. A new skit that poked fun of a popular television show was performed by the Scouts. "De plane! De plane! It is going to crash!"

Ripley Rendezvous
March 13-15, 1981

Central Minnesota Council's annual Ripley Rendezvous was held at Camp Ripley. Of course, Scouts from Melrose Troop 68 had to be there to join in the fun and adventure. In all, there were a couple thousand Scouts and leaders at this event.

Scout O Rama
April 25, 1981

The council held a Scout-O-Rama show at the St. Cloud Civic Center. Dozens of troops had booths showcasing various skills and merit badges. The Scouts of Troop 68 chose fingerprinting as their booth theme. The troop would like to thank the Melrose Police Department for their assistance in putting this booth together.

Cowboy hats were the norm in this booth.

Spring Canoe Trip
May 16-17, 1981

One patrol of Melrose Boy Scout Troop 68 decided to go canoing in May as a patrol activity. They began at the city river park and canoed down the Sauk River, spending one night along its banks.

The Parades
May and July, 1981

The Scouts of Melrose were invited to carry the flags at the front of two parades in 1981. The first was held on May 25 for the Memorial Day celebration. The second was on July 3rd for the Kiddy Parade. The Scouts looked pretty sharp in those uniforms.

Webelos Graduation
May 1981

The Webelos of Cub Pack 68 graduated to being Boy Scouts at the May Pack meeting. The troop welcomed them as members at their May Court of Honor. One of the members of this group would become an Eagle Scout.

Summer Camp
June 21-27, 1981

This was the first year the Boy Scout of Troop 68 attended summer camp at Crow Wing Scout Camp. It fact, in was the first time Boy Scouts from Melrose had attended a summer camp since the mid 1970's. The Scouts had a great time at Crow Wing. It would their favorite summer camp during the 1980's.

Fall Canoe Trip
August 5-6, 1981

Another patrol went on a canoe trip down the Sauk River in August. They had a good time but as you can see, they need a little more practice in keeping a camp site clean.

Court of Honor
August 1981

The troop held a fall court of honor on August 25th at the old firehall in Melrose. It would be one of the last courts held in the old building. The city would tear it down a couple years later.
