Laughs For Lunch
January 26, 2008

What is Laughs For Lunch? It is an annual show the Scouts of Melrose Troop 68 perform for the local community. Audience members bring an item of food for the local food shelf as admission to the show. Thus, the Scouts provide the laughs while the audience provides the lunch for the needy.
This is the twelfth show the troop has held. The show is based on songs and skits seen at some of the campfire programs at summer camps and camporees. In addition to well know campfire songs and skits the troop has developed a few original bits that also have become a part of the show. Some of the bits even included audience members who were brought on stage to have a little fun.

Camp Stearns
February 22-24, 2008

Camp Stearns is one of the troop's favorite places to spend a weekend during the Minnesota winter. We rent one of the buildings to stay in, but we spend a lot of time outside.  We arrive at the camp Friday night. Saturday morning was spent working on advancement requirements. We played broomball and made a little movie during the afternoon. (You can view the movie HERE.) In the evening it was time to hit the hill and have fun sledding.

Bowling / Road Clean-up
May 3, 2008

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the troop had to change plans for the April Outing, and had to push it back to the first weekend of May. It was a busy day which began with bowling at the Sauk Centre Bowling lanes, followed by our annual spring road clean-up, a pizza party, a Dungeon and Dragons game, and a movie.

Camp Watchamagumee
May 23-26, 2008

This year's trip to Camp Watchamagumee was what we like to call a Mega-Weekend. It was a three night stay at the camp. Activities included building a raft and dock, the egg drop competition, a campfire program, and building a tree house. Plus, there was plenty of time to just have fun in the great outdoors.

Hellermann's Outing
September 19-21, 2008

When the troop attended the Hellermann's Outing this year, they really did not have much of a program. It was time to kick back, have some fun, play some disc golf, and enjoy the weekend. Sounds like a great outing, doesn't it?

Powder Ridge Ski Day
December 13, 2008

Five troop members decided to attend this year's annual Powder Ridge Scout Ski Day. The resort gives Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts a reduced rate on equipment and lift tickets during this one weekend of the season. The mild weather made this a great day to go skiing and snowboarding.

December Court of Honor
December 15, 2008

The number of awards presented at the December court of honor was a little slim, but that did not dampen the thrill of the evening as the annual troop auction approached. Eymard, our assistant scoutmaster, was recognized for his twenty years of service to Troop 68. This was the last event for the year 2008.
