Maybe these could be read during your council Pinewood Derby.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In December of 2008, Len of Pack 15 sent out a mailing to those of us in the Yahoo \u201cCub Scout Talk\u201d group that included a couple of poems about Pinewood derbies. I thought they were pretty good and thought you might enjoy reading them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NIGHT BEFORE PINEWOOD<\/strong><br \/>\n(A Poem)<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Twas the night before Pinewood,<br \/>\nHis car still needed lead,<br \/>\nHe had done his very best,<br \/>\nWhen his mom yelled \u201cGet to bed!\u201d<br \/>\nHe climbed under his blanket,<br \/>\nHis car wasn\u2019t ready to race,<br \/>\nThe pinewood derby was tomorrow,<br \/>\nThere was a frown on his face.<br \/>\nJust as his eyes closed, He heard something spin,<br \/>\nIt was Scout\u00a0<span id=\"lw_1229701568_0\" class=\"yshortcuts\">Saint Nick<\/span>, coming to help him win!<br \/>\nAs he peeked from under the covers,<br \/>\nScout Saint Nick started to drill,<br \/>\nTo help his car speed, On its way down the hill.<br \/>\nHe splashed on some paint,<br \/>\nAnd stuck on some wheels,<br \/>\nHe put the car on its stand,<br \/>\nAnd clicked his boot heels.<br \/>\nThis woke the young scout,<br \/>\nA happy Pinewood to all,<br \/>\nAnd to all a good race!<\/p>\n<p><strong>A PINEWOOD DERBY READING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When I make my car, I hope that I can win.<br \/>\nEverything is ready, the weight &amp; shine &amp; spin.<br \/>\nThe first race is the real test, to see how good it is.<br \/>\nMy helper is happy too, you\u2019d think the car is his!<br \/>\nEventually I lose a race, and it is hard to take,<br \/>\nBut my helper and I sure had fun,<br \/>\nA\u00a0<span id=\"lw_1229701568_1\" class=\"yshortcuts\">Pinewood Derby car<\/span>\u00a0to make!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I realize that many packs have completed their Pinewood Derbies, but I recently found this in my archives and thought it would be fun to share it again.
